Piano Removal & Disposal in Sacramento

Piano removal in Sacramento depends on the piano type and access: an upright on the ground floor usually fits our quarter-to-half-truck pricing ($150–$375), while stairs or a grand piano need a custom quote. Text us a photo of the piano and the path out.

Junk removal crew hauling furniture from a home

Why Apex Home Point

Clear it out, then clean it: one crew

We’re the Sacramento junk removal company that also cleans. Landlords, realtors and families clearing a home can book the haul-out and a move-out or deep clean together: one appointment, one invoice.

Can my old piano be donated?

Playable pianos in good condition are sometimes accepted by schools, churches or community groups, but many older uprights can’t be tuned or donated. We tell you honestly and recycle what we can.

Why access matters

How much pianos weigh, and why stairs change the price

Piano typeTypical weightNotes
SpinetAbout 300–400 lbSmallest upright; often a minimum to ¼ truck
Console or studio uprightAbout 350–500 lbMost common in older homes
Full-size uprightAbout 500–800 lbHeavy and top-heavy; needs a careful crew
Grand or baby grandAbout 500–1,200 lbLegs and lid removed; always quoted from photos

Pianos are dense, top-heavy and easy to tip. Each step on a staircase is a lift, so a second-floor piano takes more people and more time than one in a ground-floor living room. Tell us about steps at the entry, narrow halls and tight turns when you send photos.

Compare your options

Cheapest way to get rid of it: DIY, dumpster, city pickup or a hauler?

OptionWhat it really costsBest when
Haul it yourselfTruck rental or your own vehicle, fuel, transfer station fees, and your time and backYou have a truck, helpers and only a few items
Rent a dumpsterRental for several days; a permit if it sits on the street; you still do all the loadingLong projects like a remodel where debris builds up over weeks
City or county curbside pickupFree within yearly limits, but you carry everything to the curb and wait for an appointmentYou can wait, can lift it yourself, and the pile fits the size limit
Apex Home Point$75–$150 to $450–$600 by truck space, firm price on-site; we do all the liftingYou want it gone soon, it’s inside the home, or it’s too heavy or too much

Many people mix options: they use the free curbside pickup for one bulky item, and book us for the rest of the garage or the heavy pieces upstairs.

What to expect

How a junk pickup works, start to finish

  1. 1You text a photo or book a time. We reply with a price range based on how much truck space the load looks like it needs.
  2. 2We call or text when the crew is on the way, inside the arrival window you picked.
  3. 3The crew looks at everything in person and gives a firm price before anything is lifted. If it’s less than the range, you pay less; if you decide not to go ahead, there’s no charge.
  4. 4We carry everything out (from bedrooms, upstairs, the garage, the backyard or a storage unit) and protect doorways and floors along the way.
  5. 5We sweep or rake the spot where the items were, then sort the load: donation, recycling, and only what’s left goes to a licensed transfer station.

Most single-item and small-load pickups take under an hour on site. A full garage or a whole-home cleanout usually takes a few hours to a full day, depending on how much sorting you want done on the spot.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

How much does piano removal cost?

+

A ground-floor upright usually falls in our $150–$375 range. Stairs and grand pianos are quoted from photos.

Do you move pianos to a new home?

+

No. We remove and dispose of pianos. For relocation, use a specialist piano mover.

Can you remove an organ?

+

Yes. Organs are priced the same way, by truck space and access.

Will removing a piano damage my floors?

+

We use dollies, straps and floor protection. Tell us about hardwood or delicate floors so we bring extra padding.

Can you take the piano bench and sheet music too?

+

Yes, as part of the same load.

Can you remove a piano from an apartment?

+

Yes. Tell us the floor, whether there’s an elevator and how wide the stairway is, and send a photo so we bring the right crew.

What if the piano won’t fit through the door?

+

Older uprights sometimes have to be partly taken apart to get out. We do that on site with your permission.
